Capturing Stories within Spaces
James is a designer and visual storyteller with a deep appreciation for the interplay between people, architecture, and the landscapes they inhabit. His journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from Carleton University, where he developed a keen understanding of spatial design and human interaction with the built environment. Over time, his fascination extended beyond design itself to the way people experience and shape the spaces around them—both intentionally and serendipitously.
It was this curiosity that led James to photography. He recognized that while architects craft spaces with a vision, the true story of a place is written by those who move through it. His lens became a tool for capturing these unscripted moments—how light filters through a structure, how a city unfolds from an unseen vantage point, or how nature quietly reclaims its place in the urban fabric.
Based in Vancouver, James continues to explore the evolving relationship between architecture and its surroundings, seeking out perspectives often overlooked. His work bridges the precision of design with the spontaneity of human presence, offering a visual dialogue between form, function, and experience. Whether capturing the rhythm of a city or the stillness of a remote landscape, his photography reveals the subtle narratives that define our connection to space.
