James's Photo.jpg

WHO I AM

James is a Designer and Nature Enthusiast with a profound love for discovering and documenting the places people traverse, whether within natural landscapes or the urban fabric.

James earned his Bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies, specializing in Design, from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. During his academic journey, he honed a diverse skill set, laying the foundation for a successful career in AEC industry. More importantly, he cultivated a unique perspective on perceiving the world. He developed a knack for asking essential questions about how individuals truly interact with their surroundings. He recognized that the initial design intent doesn't always align with the ultimate user experience; architecture can guide, but it can't predict every facet of human interaction with a space.

As his career evolved, so did his passion for Landscape Photography. He noticed similar dynamics at play in the natural world. People move through landscapes in unexpected ways, revealing unexpected views and perspectives. James embarked on a journey to explore the intricate relationship between the built and natural environments through the lens of his camera. His aim was to document how people leave their mark on the spaces they traverse.

Currently residing in Vancouver, James remains eager to explore the far reaches of the world, capturing moments often overlooked by others.

There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.

What I am passionate about

  • Landscapes and Architecture are subjects I frequently photograph as I travel and explore wherever I am

  • Often painted landscapes with acrylics but that eventually evolved into Graphic Painting and creating Concept Art

  • Avid hiker and camper, love to find hidden vistas and chase the stars

  • Grew up with a mother who loved to cook and she passed on her passion to me. I love to cook a good spicy dish.

  • Photography often goes hand and hand with writing, to capture the story that I felt was observed in that moment.
